One of the best books I have came across this year:
‘Shack: In praise of an Australian icon’ by Simon Griffiths
Fantastic design. Sexy paper stocks. Delicious to read. Australian.
It makes me proud of our heritage and the earthy innovators of today. Lovely photography and insights, it explores the different retreats of individuals across Australia, and the establishment of their own home/studio shack. From the bush to the sea, the shacks range in theme and structure, owners often making use of recycled materials and sustainable living techniques.
Hopefully one day, I too will have my own shack; a recycled studio space of sorts, with a vegetable garden out the back. swoon!
For more information on the book, click the following link

P.S. And yes it’s another Penguin text, but NO i am not trying to endorse their products, although their logo is pretty damned cute.
P.P.S. none of the above images are my own

Smile Cider packaging by Amore.
Insanely good branding for an expanding market of cider drinkers; think the indie kids will still stick to their first-love-bottle-brands though, with more of a techno youth swigging away at these little fellas in the nightclubs. Who knows though? Personally I think it will come down to my ‘drinking out of a can’ stigma …
